100 days of...

A week ago today, I decided to do a challenge for the next 100 days.
Last year, I ran at least 1 mile a day, every day, for 365 days. I'd never been that consistent with anything before, and was a bit nervous about having the discipline to do something that would last that long.
But, I did it. I did it tired, I did it energized. I did it sick, I did it healthy. I did it happy, and I did it sad.
And up until a week ago, I'd only ran about 5 times this new year thus far. I have a race at the end of this month - my first 100 miler. I have another race in October, and I've signed up for my 3rd marathon for next year. Needless to say, I need to run so I can train, especially since I keep signing myself up for races.
I don't like using the word "motivation", because motivation isn't always there. When I was running everyday last year, there were weeks where I dreaded my run, even if it was just a mile.
But, my discipline kept getting stronger, each day, each week, and each month. I ended 2025 with 1,140 miles, not including walking.
But once the new year hit, I lost all discipline. I stopped running. And it has been so hard trying to get back into a routine these past couple of weeks.
And so, I decided to do a 100 Day Becoming challenge - that's what I'm calling it at least. 100 days of goals, with the end goal of being a little bit better each day, and for my smaller goals to become part of my day everyday, with the intention of it becoming a lifestyle. This all started with Lent, where I decided to give up alcohol and fast food, and it has now transformed into something I hope will kickstart healthy and happy moments as I approach 30.
My challenge includes some non-negotiables, as well as habits in areas I'm trying to strengthen my discipline and consistency in. And so, my non-negotiables are:
running at least 1 mile every day
no alcohol
no fast food
my daily devotional (I've been doing "A Beautiful Year with Jesus" from Alabaster - not sponsored at all, just throwing it out there because it's been a great way to start my mornings)
posting on social media everyday
My habits include:
working out at least 5 times a week
praying at least once a day
waking up at 5am
going to a weekly Bible study
making time more time for friends and family
reading for self growth and not just fun
reading at least 4 books
all over the course of the next 92 days.
Some big themes for me this year are intention, grace, patience, and love - and I want this Becoming Challenge to kickstart discipline and consistency in what I do, and create a balanced lifestyle from it.
So far, I've mostly kept up with my non-negotiables and daily habits. Waking up before 6am is still a struggle for me though, as well as reading, specifically for self growth. I love "self help" books, and see a lot of value in them, but depending on how much information is in the book, it can be hard to stay focused.
But, that's the beauty of this challenge. As I approach 30 in August, I'd love to look back and see how much I've grown the past 6 months. I'm hoping this challenge will start to bring clarity for me in some areas in my life, and to let go of things that no longer serve or help me become better.
And I'll be writing about it on here, as well as posting on social media everyday. I'm excited to see what these next 92 days will bring.
