Sunday Notes - 9.27.2026
I know the motivation to do something isn’t always there, and that it’s more about discipline. But discipline is something I’ve been struggling with a lot lately. I’ve learned that knowing what I should be doing doesn't necessarily make doing it any easier.
Maybe I'm tired, maybe I'm exhausted. I’m trying to give myself some grace while also not making excuses - I'm not even sure if those two things can co-exist. I've been thinking a lot about how easy it is to label yourself as lazy when you're actually just overwhelmed, or to call yourself undisciplined when what you really need is rest. I'm still trying to figure out where that line is.
I have three races coming up and have only ran maybe a handful of times for September. Not good, I know. I have a 50K and marathon two weeks apart in October, and then a 100 miler in November. You’re probably wondering, “how is she going to do all of this?” and honestly, i’m wondering the same thing. I can’t cram months of training into a few weeks, and I'm also not going to pretend that I can.
I’m not asking for pity in sharing this. I just want to be open and honest. I want to grow this space, have friends all over the world, and document my life. The adventures, the races, the outfits, the coffee, the pretty photos - the things I'm excited about. But also the not so picture-perfect photos, the unglamorous seasons, and the days that aren’t impressive. Because that’s real life too.
So, that is where I currently am. A little tired. A little overwhelmed. A whole lot unsure of how this is all going to unfold. But I’m going to prepare the best I can with what I’m working with, and I’m still going to show up.
I’m still running all of these races because I know there is something to be learned from each of them. So much has happened this year, and so much has happened just within this past month. I’m still navigating through what this next season will bring me, but maybe this is part of it - not knowing what's going to happen, but continuing to move forward anyway.
Cheers.

Look... sometimes "it" just isn't there. And being in a funk lasts longer than two days and you think the wheels are falling off.
Stay the course. Take care of you. Those runs and those races will still be there. Be kind to yourself. Sometimes, that is the only one who will be.
You better show up at River City Half even if you're not running.
